How to reach House ANTAGON

The house Antagon is situated in Burgenland, that part of Austria which is famous as the sunny part! Here are the last mountains before the Hungarian flat: "Rosaliengebirge", near the hungarian border. You see the southern part of lake Neusiedl and in the night the light of Sopron ("Ödenburg"). House ANTAGON can be reached on excellent roads, always clean even in winter, one advantage of the bus-service: Antagon can be reached by using Train / Bus.
Adress: A-7212 Forchtenstein, Rosalienstrasse 83 (at the turnoff "Reserlgasse").

Public Transport :

Antagon is at the Rosalienstrasse, that is the logical continue from the main street through the village FORCHTENSTEIN. If you pass the village, the street runs up the hill with serpentines until you reach the castle Forchtenstein (left). Pass by, after 2km on right hand the building of the Firebrigade (for that part) - another 500 m to drive and on the left side you see the entrane Antagon (pictutre below!). The bus on that road has two stops, very near together, but different names, as mentioned below.

...From Vienna
Many possibilities - even once a day a direct bus! Slowly - please take 2h for the ride - but comfortable! If you accept changing bus in WIESEN or MATTERSBURG, you may choose out of 14 connections daily, if you use the train up to MATTERSBURG or WIESEN much more.
Attention: In WIESEN the Bus stops in front of the railway-station, in MATTERSBURG you have to walk from the station 7 minutes to Martinsplatz, crazy, but... It seems in Austria the chief’s of the railroad system never uses it themselves... Because: Same story in Wr. Neustadt: Buses to Mattersburg or Forchtenstein don’t have a stop at the railway!

Bus from Vienna leaving at station Busbahnhof "Wien Südtiroler Platz", also a station for street-car and S-Bahn. The bus with number "1855" goes to Matzleinsdorferplatz (actually the station is at the beginning of Triesterstrasse, in front of a big flower shop!) until Wr. Neustadt on that road. Wiesen (railwaystation) - Forchtenstein - Rosalia: but sorry: Only once a day, at noon. All buses stop at our entrance - You see the Bus-Sign at the picture of our entrance (down left).
This bus-stop is called "Forchtenstein Tankstelle". From Vienna: "Forchtenstein Heuberg", (100m away, the bus stops if you ask the driver!). That names are important if You look into the WEB for the valid connections of the day:

With railway from Vienna: The next station is Mattersburg, about 30 minutes from Wr. Neustadt (at the "Südbahn"), here nearly two times the hour a train is going out to Mattersburg.
You may enter the train at "Wien Meidling" or at "Wien Süd", it takes roughly an hour to Mattersburg. There is a direct connection train waiting in Wr. Neustadt, but rush through the underpass at the railway station in Wr. Neustadt: the engine driver waits for the last person coming out of the underpass, then he goes...

It is advisible to change Train / Bus in Wiesen, because here the Bus is waiting opposite the station. That is not normal in Austria:

From Mattersburg 10 times a day a Bus goes direction "Rosalia". Astoning enough: 7 minutes walk from the railway-station to Wiener Str. 3/4 (near the center = Martinsplatz), the Bus-Stop!

Vice versa there are - depending on the day of the week - daily buses to Vienna and every hour to Mattersburg or Wiesen! Daily meant really "during the day": No buses in the night-hours...

By car from Vienna:
From the border of Vienna it is 50 minutes-ride at all, approximately 70 km. Take the motorway to the south "A2" and stick 18 km on that road, than change to the "Burgenlandautobahn A3" to Eisenstadt.

Drive around 30km, direction "Mattersburg" going out. A few kilometres still Autobahn, but suddenly that changes to a motorway. Drive on that "S31" ; please not more than 100 km/h - very often radar-controlled by the police.

Stay on that road about 18 km until you see the sign "Burg Forchtenstein"

That outlet brings you directly to the village Forchtenstein, just go on until you reach the castle (uphill and a lot of curves!). Pass the castle ("Burg Forchtenstein"), after about 2 km you see on the left side a place where they sell tires (normally long flags waving - see picture to the left!) - directly after that house on the left side of the road is the entrance. If You see a red moveable barrier - You may be the first! - please just move it to open. You reached No. 83 - Antagon House!

Drive in, park your car, feel comfortable!

	By Car from the south: Motorway "A2" until Wr. Neustadt, now "Schnellstraße "S4" to Eisenstadt, outlet Oberpullendorf brings you to the "S31" - after 3 km you see the sign "Burg Forchtenstein" - as shown above! Follow the instruction underneath the map - happy driving!
Above You see the view coming from the castle - if you move the pointer on the picture: Viewed driving down from top of the hill going toward Forchtenstein.	The sign at the entrance is lighted on evenings.
